Hager Group invests 18 million euros in production facilities and sustainable manufacturing in Blieskastel

Official opening ceremony with Minister President Anke Rehlinger

Hager Group has completed investments with a total volume of 18 million euros at its headquarters in Blieskastel. Together with Saarland Minister President Anke Rehlinger, the company inaugurated two automated production facilities for enclosures and a new building for machine maintenance with a highly efficient cooling system that enables significant electricity and CO2 savings in the manufacturing process.

The investments support the company's strategy for 2030, with which Hager Group is setting its business and plants on a course for growth, digitalisation and sustainability. The company has committed to reducing indirect and direct CO2 emissions by 50 percent by 2030.

Sabine Busse, CEO of Hager Group, said:
With these investments, we are improving both our competitiveness and our sustainability performance. Industry, innovation and climate protection go hand in hand at Hager.”

Daniel Hager, Chairman of the Supervisory Board said:
These investments underscore our long-term commitment to the Blieskastel site 70 years after our family business was founded. In times of economic stagnation, this is a strong sign of our shared future success."

Anke Rehlinger, Minister-President of Saarland, recognised the company's commitment and its role for Saarland as an industrial hub:
"Hager Group is demonstrating entrepreneurial courage with its investment in the new technology centre. This is precisely the kind of courage we need if we want to get Germany's economy back on track. We need ideas, innovations and enablers who are determined and energetic in implementing them. As politicians, it is our job to create the right conditions right conditions for the economy to rebound. The‘growth booster’ is the first important step on this path.

In order to achieve its sustainability goals amidst increasing energy demands for production, Hager Group aims for sustainable energy consumption and infrastructure. The new cooling system efficiently supplies the site with cooling for the manufacturing of injection-moulding parts. Evaporative cooling components enable annual savings of around 640,000 kilowatt hours of electricity and 220 tonnes of CO₂. These savings correspond to the annual electricity consumption of around 160 households.

The new building also combines toolmaking, maintenance, and building management in one location. The direct proximity to production improves processes and enables more efficient collaboration.

Furthermore, two new production facilities for the manufacturing of enclosure frames and doors enable a significant increase in production using innovative processes. The production time per frame has been halved, and door production has been accelerated by nearly 25 percent.

Since 2021, Hager Group has invested a total of around 500 million euros in production facilities worldwide to expand its production capacities. 67 million euros of this investment programme has been invested in the Blieskastel site in acquiring over 48 new machines, 31 technical systems and modern infrastructure.

With the inauguration of the new production facilities and infrastructure for sustainable manufacturing Hager Group is underlining its vision to shaping the electrical world of tomorrow – with innovative technology and a clear commitment to the Blieskastel site.
