Hager Group colleagues training and sharing production across borders
France to Poland hand in hand: learning and growing together
A semi-automated pre-assembly line currently in one of our Obernai factories in North-East France will be transferred to our brand new facility located in Bieruń in Silesia, Poland just 10 kilometres from our Tychy site. To prepare for the August transfer of this semi-automated pre-assembly line colleagues have been busy training to understand the specifics of the line to ensure a seamless transition.
How have Polish and French colleagues been working together to ensure a smooth transition?
Since April, we have welcomed several colleagues from Poland; they have been coming on a regular basis to receive comprehensive training on the machines that they will soon operate back in Poland.
It’s quite an operation and the cooperation between our teams has been nothing short of remarkable! French colleagues with the know-how on the line are supporting our Polish ones, providing the best training possible to share their expertise and pass on their invaluable knowledge. None of this would be possible though without the precious help of two interpreters who have become so involved in the training that they are practically considered members of the Hager Group family. We are immensely grateful to the two of them who went above and beyond their role, becoming an integral part of the Hager Group family. They not only participated in hands-on work on the machines but also translated the technical documents that will prove immensely useful when our Polish colleagues take charge of the operations in Bieruń.
Training is a key factor in the success of industrial transfer projects
The first training sessions were intense and in addition to the daily work of Line Leaders and production operators. Colleagues in Obernai are used to training and assisting colleagues, but never before has training been so intense and for so many workstations in such a short period of time. Polish colleagues needed to take on board production methods from start to finish with many references and all this happened against a backdrop of tight supplies, with new people coming on board each time there were waves of training.
The ultimate goal is get the line up and running smoothly in Poland; the same excellence and quality standards apply throughout the group, regardless of the location.
Fun green fact 🌿
Did you know that our Bieruń factory will be one of our most modern buildings meeting BREEAM* certification guidelines at the Excellent level? Green energy will be used in the production process in our new factory which will also have photovoltaic panels.
*BREEAM: Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology. BREEAM Buildings Technical Standard is a sustainability assessment method for the building sector.
