Hager delivers reliable electrical backbone for new Sintra Hospital
Chosen for its trusted expertise, Hager optimised the technical and economic solution for the new Hospital de Proximidade de Sintra, ensuring safe, reliable and scalable power for one of the region’s most important and modern public healthcare facilities.
Building a modern, future-ready healthcare facility
Providing power infrastructure for a hospital of this scale means guaranteeing high mechanical robustness, electrical reliability, and long-term performance. To meet these expectations, Hager worked closely with the project stakeholders — from prescription through commissioning — to develop an optimised technical and economic solution adapted to the hospital’s needs.
“The key factor was knowing we would receive strong technical support, with quick responses to any difficulties — creating a uniquely close working relationship.” - Filipe Ribeiro, Tecnorém
Tailored project support and a certified partnership
Hospital power systems must be engineered with exceptional precision. Throughout the project, Hager coordinated with all key partners (specifiers, installers, panel builders) to manage requirements, adjust specifications, and ensure full compliance with performance and safety standards.A critical part of the project was ensuring that several main LV switchboards requiring up to 5000 A capability were manufactured by a certified Hager Panel Builder System Partner. With Hager’s input, Tecnorém was selected as one of our approved Panel Builder System Partners, with a proven expertise in high-power assemblies, ensuring high-quality assembly using Hager’s enclosures and protection systems.

Reliable power for critical hospital operations
With thousands of patients and staff depending on continuous service, electrical infrastructure is central to the hospital’s operational resilience. Hager’s modular, scalable and high-performance systems form a solid foundation for
• uninterrupted power distribution,
• the protection of medical equipment,
• safe operation of emergency systems,
• the long-term evolution of the facility.
To meet the project's demands, Hager supplied more than 200 enclosures — from a plastic box golf range to main switchboard quadro Evo — as well as a full protection portfolio including MCBs, MCCBs and ACBs up to 5000 A, RCCBs, SPDs and switching devices. Wiring accessories included Berker Integro solutions.
By combining robust technology with an agile collaboration approach, Hager ensures that the Sintra Hospital is equipped with a system that is safe, reliable, and future-proof.
A reference for healthcare infrastructure in Portugal
The choice of Hager was reinforced by our strong technical and commercial support throughout the project, the proven quality of our systems, and the confidence that partners and customers place in our company.
The new Sintra Hospital represents a milestone in modern healthcare development — and a significant reference project for Hager in Portugal. It demonstrates how trusted technology, local collaboration and strong engineering support can address the requirements of a highly complex, multi-service medical facility.
