During the covid-19 crisis, more people are spending much more time at home than is normally the case. And that's when one or the other takes more time to think about the furnishing of the home. This also includes the thought about the question, how do I make my home an intelligent home?

More and more people are discovering the numerous advantages of smart homes - and with them the wide range of possibilities that are available. All the better that many functions that a smart home can cover can now be bundled and linked: with the new domovea expert from our Hager brand, which has been available on the German market since March 2020. Other European markets will follow.

With this solution, residents lay the foundation for a networked home. Components such as light, shading, temperature or sound can be connected, visualised and operated from anywhere in one app. Thanks to practical control options, individually storable sequences and intuitive use, completely new possibilities open up.

Residents can configure and design the user interface according to their own individual ideas, so that the most important functions are always directly accessible and visible. The app also distinguishes between "out of home" and "at home". The former only displays what is really needed on the road, the latter gives users access to the full program again.

A practical tool at domovea expert is the creation of possible sequences, so-called domograms, which the residents can adapt to their individual user behaviour. If, for example, the day draws to a close and it is time for a cosy dinner, the shutters are automatically lowered, the light is dimmed and favourite music is played.  There is also more security in the smart home: from now on, the door communication of our Hager Group brand Elcom, including the access gate, is integrated. This means that residents always have an overview - whether at home or on the move - of who is at the door at home, can communicate via the speech function and open the door at the touch of a finger. It is also possible to integrate up to 50 surveillance cameras. 

A further comfort plus: Web-based services and Internet-capable devices can be integrated into the system as part of IoT (Internet of Things). In concrete terms this means that familiar applications such as those from Philips Hue or Amazon's Alexa voice control system are already pre-installed and can be configured and controlled. And the data? At domovea, data security is a top priority, because all relevant data is stored on the in-house server.
