Fabrice Amedeo: a skipper on a mission

A former journalist, Fabrice Amedeo turned his passion into his profession after making 11th place at the Vendée Globe 2016. Then, in November 2022, Fabrice was shipwrecked during the Route du Rhum transatlantic race. His boat sank in the Atlantic and he almost lost his life.

Since this close shave, Amedeo has added a meaningful challenge to his endeavours: he aims to sail without fossil fuels on journeys dedicated to preserving the oceans and the to the energy transition.

The story of a new beginning

Fabrice Amedeo was racing in his 4th Route du Rhum 2022 when he was forced to retire after a fire broke out on the boat. Supported by his partners and backed by his team and family, Fabrice found the strength and courage to bounce back just three weeks after the shipwreck with a new boat designed to meet his ambition of sailing around the world without using fossil fuels.

Fabrice’s incredible resilience is an inspiration to us. His work to understand the impact of global warming on our oceans and his fight against marine plastic pollution overlaps with our focus on sustainability.
We are natural partners for Amedeo, we support his Ocean Calling Fund and have started to use ocean plastic in some of our range of products, such as cubyko leaf.
