Sustainable and energy-efficient new Dutch headquarters

The brand-new Hager Dutch headquarters was constructed with a strong commitment to combining ecology and technology. With a blend of Hager products and energy management technologies, Hager and partners implemented sustainable and energy-efficient solutions for a better future.

Hager’s expertise played a central role in the planning phase, creating the opportunity to implement multiple solutions for a more efficient and sustainable building. The modernity of the Dutch headquarters, with its original shape and advanced energy management system, establishes a benchmark for the future. Let’s look at how Hager and the project partners envisioned and built this project from scratch.

An energy-efficient custom solution

The electrical installation of the new headquarters was designed in 3D to prevent clashes with other systems, which was crucial given the unique architecture of the building. A larger transformer, a customised main distribution board serving all floors, and an easily expandable busbar system from Hager contributed to the headquarters becoming more grid-friendly.

“We worked with Hager to develop a tailor-made solution, creating a 3D plan of the installation and rethinking our usual processes thanks to their expertise,”
Laurens van Heumen, Managing Director at Van Eck Elektro.

A future-proof installation

Thanks to the KNX Domovea technology, lighting and blinds are controlled through the ceiling infrastructure, which is itself covered by photovoltaic systems. The automation of the building relies on smart sensors and daylight management. In addition, a battery storage system and charging stations equipped with load management help reduce peak loads. All of this is tied together with an integrated energy management and storage system.

The final result was achieved through tight coordination of schedules, quality requirements, on-time deliveries, and the commitment of project managers and installers including Van Eck Elektro. All together, these factors contributed to a more efficient energy supply.

“EV systems, energy management systems and energy storage are the right way to deal with energy in the future,”
Ed van Dalen, Business Development Manager Energy Storage at Hager.
