Hager Group supports & recruit young engineers
donation for INSA Strasbourg
For many years now Hager Group has been involved with INSA, the Strasbourg engineering school. Through numerous partnership programs we aim to support the development of tomorrow’s engineers by helping them acquire new in-demand skills, to facilitate our own recruitment of specialists and to support the technological innovation needed for shaping the electrical world of tomorrow.
Circuit breakers, switches and fuse holders
On 19 January, in the presence of Benoit Leroy, electrical distribution systems engineer, Armelle Quentel, our Talent & Campus Manager for France, and members of the school management, Hager Group handed more than 150 new electrical protection products to the electrical engineering department of INSA Strasbourg. The 16,000 Euro’s worth of circuit breakers, differential switches and fuse holders will allow students at the engineering school to use the latest generation of equipment for training purposes whilst also supporting research and technological innovation.
"We are constantly looking for specialists who are rare on the job market. It’s not least for this reason that we see it as an opportunity for us to support INSA students by donating products which after all are manufactured in close vicinity to Strasbourg, in Obernai. Like this, students can work on electrical refurbishment and practical projects," says Jean-François Bonnardot, Hager Group's R&D Director and a former student at the school.
Philippe Leroy, Director of INSA Enterprises, adds: "We are proud to have major companies like Hager Group as loyal partners. With this donation, the group will participate this year in the steering committee of the INSA Strasbourg pedagogical innovation chair currently under construction.
Support for budding engineers
The handover was an opportunity to discover the students' current projects, including those of two students on apprenticeship contracts in our company. Eloïse Beyreuther, an apprentice mechatronics engineer, and Grégoire Meyer, an apprentice electromechanics engineer, share: "On a daily basis, we put the theory we learnt during our training into practice within our various departments at Hager Group. And this also allows us to use the skills we learned during our apprenticeship to carry out our projects at school.
Over the past three years, 32 students have been recruited for internships and work-study placements at our Alsace sites. Between 2018 and 2021, Hager Group has also recruited 18 engineers who graduated from INSA Strasbourg.
"When we welcome a student to the company at Hager Group, we offer them the opportunity to collaborate with our experts, the aim being to learn from each other. We also contribute to the development of their skills by offering them interesting, concrete and instructive assignments by working on our future product development projects in our labs in France and also on our sites abroad," explains Armelle Quentel, our Talent & Campus Manager for France. "Our trainees and apprentices also have access to all the training courses offered by our Hi! Hager University."
