One courtyard. 371 years old.
Perfect appearance.

An old residential courtyard in Wels, Austria, a lot of charm refreshed with elegance, plus a dash of intelligence for very special light.

Age before beauty? Not in this case. The experts showed that a house can also be embellished by using Berker switches made of slate and stone. Age and beauty is the name of the concept. In addition, an intelligent control system creates very special lighting scenes and also saves electricity.

One of the great things about smart technology is that it isn’t limited by age, it’s adaptable by nature. Even a courtyard built circa 1750 can be transformed into a SmartHome. With the necessary intuition and the right expertise, tradition and modernity can be merged into an attractive and harmonious whole.

The senses of touch and sight
Manfred Derflinger from E-Werk Wels and a team of experts from Siblik SmartHome proved just that when responding to a customer’s request to have an anthracite or black switch range installed during his residential courtyard renovation in the Wels area. The choice fell quickly on the Q.7 series in slate from Berker for its tactile and visual appeal, complete with an elegant frame made of real stone. The customer also opted for a smart lighting range with motion detectors and time control, as well as an intelligent door station (it’s a smart home after all!)

Teamwork between electricians and the experts
For the electrical contractor E-Werk, Wels and project manager Manfred Derflinger, (a big fan of KNX), it became quickly clear that teamwork with the experts from Siblik SmartHome was required. Many years of existing cooperation were ideal for perfect customer advice in the run-up to the project, as well for the selection of suitable products. The customer was immediately enthusiastic about the advantages of the KNX bus system, namely future-proofing, system flexibility and the diverse, almost endless possibilities that KNX can offer.

Fingerprint control – keyless tech
The Q.7 series from Berker was installed the ELCOM.ONE door station. The latter ensures perfect security by identifying the occupants via their fingerprint, meaning that no unauthorised person(s) may enter the house.

Sustainably chic – smartly intelligent!
The customer’s family were most convinced by the intelligent lighting control which enables individual lighting moods and lighting scenarios, which of course also saves energy. Thanks to motion detectors and timers, lighting in the corridors is operated with lower energy consumption, without the residents having to make any compromises in terms of brightness.
