On the Old Town Square in Prague, you can find the house Franz Kafka was born in. After his birth in 1883, the writer lived here with his parents for the first two years of his life.

Between 2018 and 2019, the house was completely renovated as part of the refurbishment of exclusive, well-thought-out apartments within the building. Each apartment was designed to the last detail.

The apartments’ period atmosphere is emphasised by the choice of switches. Interior designers decided to use switches from Hager’s Berker Series 1930, as their appearance references their historical counterparts. Thanks to their retro look and two choices of material - porcelain and bakelite – they’re a popular choice for architects working with historic buildings, but they also suit the minimalism of contemporary design interiors surprisingly well.

All the newly created interiors of Kafka’s house combine classic and modern elements, as well as subtlety and decadence, and magnificence and cosiness.
