An educational boat open to all

Vendée Globe 2024 - Hager Group supports Fabrice Amedeo's educational project dedicated to ocean preservation and the energy transition

The idea is simple: to create a replica of Fabrice’s racing boat on land. A place for racing enthusiasts along with curious observers to visit where we can reinforce that ocean preservation begins on land, the source where 80% of ocean pollution is produced.

This IMOCA, a former racing boat too old to take part in the Vendée Globe, has been completely renovated and will be on display in the heart of the Vendée Globe village in Les Sables d’Olonnes, France, from October 19 to November 10 to welcome the public onboard.  The aim is not only to inspire dreams of adventure, but also to raise awareness with as many people as possible, facilitated by an educational tour of the boat’s interior. There will be a bunk and galley to immerse visitors in the adventure of the round-the-world voyage, as well as oceanographic sensors to explain the scientific project to measure the impact of global warming and plastic pollution in the oceans.

“Explanations are given so that everyone can better understand the extent to which the oceans are facing ever-increasing threats, and that the impact of human activities makes these areas vital to our planet extremely vulnerable.”

Finally, part of the boat will also be devoted to the energy transition project, including solar panels and batteries to explain the system set up with Hager Group and E3/DC to enable Fabrice to circumnavigate the globe without recourse of fossil fuels, and to raise awareness of the need for energy sobriety.
